Deep Space Industrial is an Introversion prototype that was originally abandoned. It was included in Chris Delay's FAIL Masterclass on May 5th, 2021. Following the Masterclass video, development on the project resumed and the project evolved into The Last Starship[1]. The inspiration for the game was building a space-builder and mining game in the vein of Factorio.
